SERVER RULES
The following rules will be in place, so as
to make the game more fun and fair for everyone involved. I have tried
to enforce most intended rules "server side", rather than player side, so
that players have less to remember. As a consequence, if you can do a thing
then the thing is probably legal. If you can buy it (and you don't get outbid)
then you can fly it. If you can reach it, then you can attack it. Want
to press the forfeit button? Dont' say I didn't warn you it would be
expensive.......
While there aren't many rules, there are of
course some. Most are common sense. Violation of rules can and will lead
to your being banned from the server. While I can be authoritarian, I don't
want to ban anyone. I just want everyone to have as much fun as possible.
So play nice and we won't have to worry about it, OK?
- Don't press Alt-F4 to save your ship from
destruction. Not even against the AI. That's cheating.
- If you no longer have any intention of
trying to harm your enemy this battle, leave the map. Don't fly around
forever just trying to waste his time. It's not cool.
- If you have been killed or have left the
map, but the battle still continues, don't press Alt-F4 or Escape. Go talk
to the little lady for a few minutes. (She probably misses you.) Go get
a drink or something. (I recommend GlenMorangie 20 year-old scotch). Do
NOT drop the mission before it is over! This can rob your opponent of
a well-deserved victory. Note that some battles do not end until over,
even if only AI characters are left on the map! The mission is not "bugged",
it simply isn't over yet!!
- You are expected to be an adult. Act
like one, even if you are not old enough to drive. Do not use overly
vulgar or offensive language in the game. Yes, you do know what I mean.
Role play does not require the use of vulgar, offensive, or abusive
language. If you think I am not talking to you because you were just "role
playing" or "just having fun", then please think again.
- Do not create more than one user account
for the server.
- Do not fly for more than one race on the
server (see previous rule)
- No more than one carrier per person at a time.
You can have up to three ships at a time, but only one may be a carrier.
- If you find a new game bug, do not exploit
it. Report it! New rules may be needed for new bugs, but I'm hoping
not.
Really, that's about it. Simple, yes? Don't
cheat and don't insult. Happy Warmongering!
Common Rules that are NOT used in the Day of the Eagle server:
- Patrol Bug Rules: Thanks to Dave Wessels,
I am using new mission scripts that do not contain the patrol bug. Therefore
no rules are needed. Neat, eh?
- Command and Control Rules: None. If you
can buy it, and you don't get outbid, then you can fly it and you can fly
it with any combination of ships. The only exception is that you can only
have one carrier per player at a time
- Line of Supply Rules: None. Deep Strikes
(even against homeworlds) are an integral part of SFB fictional history.
If you can attack it, then you can attack it.
- Mercy Rules: There are none. This is
a wargame with a slow shipyard. There is no honor in letting an opponent
escape. He'll just kill your friends. Likewise, if someone has you down,
expect them to finish you. And don't whine when they do.
